Ruben Caban loves to harness that power with a broad audience of fellow music lovers and passionate musicians alike. Ever since a young age, Ruben has found great joy and satisfaction in making music and sharing it with fans and people all over the world.
Caban seeks to offer something different and unique to his fans by creating original compositions that are a fusion of Latin jazz, hard-bop and funk into a sound he can proudly call his own. His project “Shafted” is a musical voyage of discovery of a Jazz trombonist growing up listening to a variety of musicians and genres that have played an influential role in shaping his sound.
His ensembles are adjusted to fit the venues and the style that the audience demands. From a fiery Latin Jazz septet or sextet to a sophisticated quintet or an intimate quartet his music is meant to touch the hearts and minds of the listener and even encourage some dance moves by the more rhythmic infused numbers.
In his performance career he has toured, performed, or recorded as a sideman and soloist with an array of internationally renowned artists such as Frankie Valli, Jon Secada, Ed Calle, Nicole Henry, Diane Schuur, Randy Brecker, Arturo Sandoval, Ira Sullivan, The Platters, The Stylistics, Roberto Carlos, Sandra De Sa, Nestor Torres, The O’Jays, Cheo Feliciano, Giovanni Hidalgo, Oscar D’Leon, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuel, Michael Stuart, La India, Paquito D’Rivera, and is part of Ed Calle’s 2015 Latin Grammy award winning album Ed Calle Presents Mamblue, and more.Ruben CabanRuben Caban[/cs_content_seo]
