Ricky Williams Biography:

Ricky Williams has enjoyed performing in many of the upscale clubs & restaurants in South Florida. He’s appeared with bands and as a single performing the songs he’s created track by track independently including covers and originals. The Forge, an icon on Miami Beach was his home for eleven years, one of the longest running shows in South Florida. He has performed at the Seminole Hardrock Casino & Hotel in Hollywood, Florida on numerous occasions. As a singer & songwriter, his mix of Smooth Jazz, R&B and Soul has stirred deep feelings among his fans who keep coming back for more. He has performed before such stars as Don King, Rick James, Barry Gibb, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson & Prince while they were dining. Brought up in New York City, proved to be fertile ground for his music. Blind since 6 years old, he started his career at 9 on the drums, then began playing the piano at 14 with lessons from blind artist Valerie Capers. The genesis of his music career was really blessed when he was booked at such notable clubs as The Village Gate in Greenwich Village, The New Cotton Club and many after hour clubs in New York City. To his many credits, he wrote “Misty Morning” for Ollie Woodson’s album, one of the original Temptations. He played Clavinet for Super Star Bennie King for his album “Super Natural”. Ricky has played with Bette Midler, Peter Niro, Roy Ayers, Sister Sledge, and he did a commercial with Luther Vandross. Ricky was at Electric Lady Studio during the recording of many of Stevie Wonder’s compositions and played on Stevie Wonder’s Soundbook. He was also in the studio during the recording of Superstition. Today Ricky is still consulting with Stevie on the latest technology for blind musicians which they both use. One of Ricky’s favorite programs which he recently introduced to Stevie is Logic.

The Miami Lighthouse Inner Vision Band is group of highly talented blind and visually impaired musicians who bring a distinguished level of jazz performance throughout the South Florida community. With countless years of experience, members Jeff Zavack, Ricky Williams, Leonardo Quintero, and Gerardo Ubieda provide a refreshing taste to jazz classics with dynamic energy, complex harmony, and a heavy emphasis on improvisation that truly shows anything is possible without sight.
