His music is fresh, happy, positive and full of energy. The melodies play a very important role as much in his compositions as in his solos. Chacon is emerging as one of the most prominent voices of the vibraphone in Latin and Cuban Jazz.
He combines a high technical level in his instrument with a great musical, and harmonic knowledge. His new album ̈Caliente Corner ̈ is a wonderful sounding album featuring many Cuban traditional rhythms, masterly merged with the harmonies and approach of jazz. Brian Lynch, a well known and Grammy award-winning Latin jazz trumpet player is featured in two tracks of the album, that also features Latin Grammy nominee Ivan “Melon” Lewis on piano. His previous album, MAGIC PLACE, won a nomination to best jazz album at the Cubadisco Awards in 2013. In this album, his Cuban roots are mixed with influences from other genres like Funk, Bossa, Soul, and Bebop in a blend of beautiful melodies and groovy rhythms.
The result is a fresh, colorful, joyous and elegant music full of surprises that will get the listener in a good mood. Alfredo Chacón grew up in a family of musicians and learned how to play the piano and read music at the age of five. With his father being an Orchestra Conductor, the sound of classical music was present at home all the time. His musical education spans from Elementary school at the Conservatory Manuel Saumell to a bachelor degree at the Superior Institute of Arts in Havana. Alfredo then relocates to Stockholm, Sweden where he develops his professional career as a musician, working and recording with many of the most prominent artists and acts in Sweden: Nordman, Bo Kaspers Orkester, Lill Lindfors, Peter Jöback, Carola, Blacknuss All-Stars, Stockholm Folk Big Band, Jonas Knutsson, Magnus Lindgren & Radiojazzgruppen to name a few.
He got to tour all around Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, UK, France and other European countries, covering various genres like Pop, Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Fusion, Folklore, Latin Jazz and much more. During this period of time, Alfredo becomes Musical Director of the group Los Tigres, where he composes and arranges part of their
repertoire. He also founds the group SonEra, now performing only his own compositions as well as arrangements. He also developed his tutorial career, working as a drum and percussion teacher at Rinkeby Music School, Kulturama and at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Alfredo also presented Workshops of Cuban music all over Sweden.
Later on, Alfredo moves to Madrid, looking for new experiences as a Percussionist, Composer, and Producer. In Spain, he shares the stage as well as the studio with Aute, Beatriz Luengo, Andy & Lucas, Victoria Abril, David Bisbal, Habana Blues, David Bustamante, and Cruceta Flamenco Company among many others. Alfredo combines his solo career with the collaboration with other artists, touring the world with David Bisbal and with the Cuban hip-hop group Orishas, among others. Alfredo has also shared the stage with Latin Jazz masters Bebo Valdes and Paquito D’Rivera.ImageImage[/cs_content_seo]
