With Special Guest Matthew Whitaker
The 8th Annual South Beach Jazz Festival is excited to feature the Society Jazz Night on the grand lawn of Collins Park and The Bass. This year’s highlight is the acclaimed saxophonist and bandleader Vincent Herring, leading his dynamic hard-bop soul jazz group, SOMETHING ELSE!, in their Miami Beach debut. The event will be further elevated by the guest appearance of the young and exceptionally talented pianist/organist Matthew Whitaker. Despite being blind since birth, Whitaker’s extraordinary skills on the Hammond organ draw comparisons to a young Stevie Wonder, showcasing a deep mastery of improvisation that propels him from a skilled musician to a rising jazz legend. The performance of SOMETHING ELSE! promises to transport audiences back to the soul jazz era, known for its rich, rhythmic melodies and toe-tapping, infectious tunes.
